Night Fighters

We stay well hidden
until the sun goes down
then rise up high, 500 feet
above the ground.
The first call comes,
a robbery just occurred
the suspect fled.
Never seen or heard
on-scene overhead, our
skills put to the test.
Five short minutes later
another FLIR arrest.
The second call comes, it’s
a high speed chase.
He’s driving so fast, the
units can’t keep pace.
He crashes the stolen
and tries to flee,
Unaware of the training
LETA taught me.
He hides in the bushes
avoiding the light
until the K-9s lead in and
takes a bite.
The third call comes, a
missing 2 year old.
Its starting to rain
and getting cold
With no clues to go on
we feel left in the dark
But the FLIR system finds
her, asleep in the park.
The fourth call come and
the narc’s wanna know
Can we seek out
a suspected indoor grow
I look into my mystical
green screen
It’s a high grow,
the biggest ever seen.
We head back to base
to load up on fuel
Standard cock-pit conversation
"Were too darn cool."
We’re an elite group,
there are none tighter
Because we’re LETA trained
night crime fighters.
